ACCOMMODATIONS

A total of 10 rooms (the minimum) have been blocked. You can stay one night only (May 15th) OR two nights, the 15th and 16th. We have a negotiated reduced rate of $189 per night single/double plus CA/ Riverside hotel taxes. Total cost is about $217 per night. Each person will make their own reservation under the room block name, and pay with their own credit card. Parking is an additional cost.

All reservations must be made ON OR BEFORE 4/15 or until the block is gone.

ITINERARY

Wednesday, May 15th: 

  • Arrive at your leisure at the Mission Inn, Riverside. Members from San Diego, OC, and the desert drive in. The LA group will likely arrange transportation depending on the number of members interested. 

  • Our program begins at 2:00PM. We will share the attendee list and you may want to reserve for a no-host Spanish patio style luncheon with a group of friends at Las Campanas Mexican Cuisine or for the casual dining option at the Mission Inn Restaurant. You can reserve by calling 951.784.0300. 

  • 2PM-3:30PM 

    • We begin our event with the Cheech Museum, next door to the Mission Inn. Tour with Maria Esther Hernandez, the Artistic Director. Enjoy the superb Judithe Hernandez exhibit.

  • 3:30/4PM. 

    • We check in at the hotel and have a private, docent tour of the historic Mission Inn.

  • 6/6:30PM

    • Dinner at Mario’s Place at 6/6:30 pm across the street from the Inn. Mario’s is known for its award–winning Italian food. Included in cost.

Thursday, May 16th :

  • 8:45 AM

    • Enjoy a hearty, leisurely breakfast with our group. We will likely break into smaller groups to facilitate prompt service. Included in cost.

  • 10 AM 

    • A short tour of the Riverside Art Museum (2 blocks away). This is the Julia Morgan building – lovely, small, easy to do in 30/40 minutes. We will visit the Social Justice Center nearby to see artist Mine Okubo’s collection of more than 8,000 pieces highlighting the history of Japanese-Americans imprisoned during World War II.

  • 12PM-1PM

    • Then onto the California Photography Museum for a private docent-led tour of “Telling Them Apart Eileen Cowin and Jonesy” with April Baca, Curatorial Assistant.

  • Those who are on the probable LA bus leave & others can too. For those staying longer, enjoy the Art Walk area with galleries. 

COST

Cost excluding hotel and transportation: $ 400.


LA transportation:

If enough people are attending, we will hire transportation from LA at an additional cost. We will leave from an area close to the 405 and Sunset. 

  • We will need to tip the driver individually, but here are the basic costs: 

    • SUV-$280 each way 

    • Sprinter van-$400- $550 each way 

Cost is for 11 or 13 passengers; cost to be split by the number joining.
